George, What If You Could Double Your AdSense Earnings?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

As you might remember back in June of 2011 I launched the
AdSense Profits Course. It's a 6-week program aimed at helping
people increase their AdSense earnings.

Well, the feedback I got was great. Most of the members saw
a really nice increase in earnings, with some in the range of
50% and some even 100% (i.e., they double how much they were
making).

That's why I figured it would be nice to interview some of those
people, so that you can check their websites, analyze what they
did to reach those numbers and so on.

Obviously those interviews help to strengthen the brand of my
course, but I made sure to make them useful to anyone reading,
as opposed to a boring sales pitch. Here are the links to the
first two interviews:

-> http://www.dailyblogtips.com/adsense-profits-interview-tucsononthecheap-com/

and

-> http://www.dailyblogtips.com/adsense-profits-interview-html-site-nl/

I have more interviews coming soon, so stay tuned.

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, You Must Learn A Craft

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Last year I made an important decision about my business. I
decided I would start to focus more and more on software and
online apps development.

Why?

First of all because the growth potential for those is much
larger (just think about Twitter, Facebook...). Second because
once you become good developing those you'll face less competition,
as very few people/companies around the world are capable of
doing it.

That's why I started to study programming. I bought dozens of
books, started reading as much as possible online, and I even
enrolled in a local university to follow their Computer Science
classes (I am about to complete my second semester).

I am having a blast, but this experience also made me think about
a person's career. The conclusion I came to is that if you want to
be successful you have to learn a craft. That is, you have to learn
to do something. Something that you can see or touch, and that
other people will appreciate and get value from.

This applies to the Internet as well.

Being able to create simple websites/blogs and to write is
not enough. Sure, you can make some bucks with it, but it
won't become a real business until you actually learn a
real craft.

If you like design, for example, you could learn the craft of
web design. And by this I don't mean simply learning HTML and
CSS. I mean studying typography, design patterns, color
combinations, JavaScript, etc., so that you because a real
web designer. Once you master that you'll certainly have a
real business in your hands.

If you like to write, similarly, you could learn the craft of
writing. Again, this is not simply being able to write cool
blog posts. You got decide where you want to focus on (e.g.,
journalism, copywriting, humor writing) and then put some
conscious effort to master that craft, be it by reading books
or by attending classes and courses (and obviously by practicing
a lot).

My point being: you have to learn to make something tangible,
something you can see and be proud of, something other people
will appreciate and get value from. This is the path to
success.

If you are not there yet, what are you waiting for to get
started?

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, Here's The Strangest Secret In The World

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

A couple of months ago I came across an MP3 recording called "The
Strangest Secret In The World", by a man called Earl Nightingale. I
didn't know who he was, but the title was intriguing enough to get
me interested.

I listened to it, and it was probably the best motivational piece I
ever heard. As the name implies it has some resemblances with the
concepts explained in "The Secret", but I found it to be much more
practical and down to earth.

I liked it so much that now I keep that recording on my MP3 player,
and I listen to it at least twice a month, to keep me on the right
track.

If you never heard it before, I strongly encourage you to do so.
Here's the link to where you can download it for free:

-> http://www.markvictorhansen.com/strangest_secret.php

You should also be able to find a transcript online if you
prefer to read the text, but the audio is much more powerful
in my opinion.

I am sure you'll like it.

Daniel Scocco

George, Wanna Make Money Writing Online?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

In my opinion freelance writing is one of the best ways to make
money online these days, and I speak from experience. When I
started working online the majority of my income was coming from
writing gigs, and I used that money to invest on my own websites.

That's why earlier this year I invited a friend of mine (Ali Hale),
who is a very successful freelance writer, to create a course with
me on this topic. We launched it on Daily Writing Tips (my other
blog). Over 400 students took the course already, and the feedback
was great.

Today we're opening the doors to the third edition. If you want
to check the details and join, here's the link:

--> http://www.dailywritingtips.com/freelance-writing-course/

The course is a six-week program designed to teach you everything
you need to know about making money freelance writing online.
You'll get written lessons every week (that you access on a special
members' site). They'll cover:

Week #1 - Maximizing Your Productivity to Multiply Your Profits:
During the first week you'll learn techniques you can use to
increase your productivity as a writer - if you can write fast
without sacrificing quality, you'll massively increase your
earnings.

Week #2 - Website Setup, Promotion and Guest Blogging: Setting up
your own freelancing website and building up your online writing
credentials - essential if you want to be taken seriously and land
online gigs.

Week #3 - Writing Content For The Web: Writing for the web is a
totally different beast, and in this module you'll learn techniques
that can set you apart from other freelance writers.

Week #4 - Finding Clients and Developing High Paying Jobs: Finding
great clients and high-paying jobs is probably the biggest
challenge any freelance writer will face. The information provided
in this module will help you overcome this challenge.

Week #5 - Running A Freelance Writing Business: Running your
business effectively - because if you can't communicate well with
clients or if you miss deadlines, you'll soon find yourself out of
work.

Week #6 - Using Social Media To Promote Yourself: Social media is
already considered an important part of modern marketing. In this
module you'll learn how to use it to promote yourself and land more
clients.

If you want to get all the details and join click on the link below
to visit the official course page. Enrollment closes on Friday,
September 30, so check it out today if you don't want to miss it.

George, Check These 3 Ways to Promote Your Linkbaits

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

As you probably know one of the best ways to increase the traffic
of your website or blog is to publish linkbaits (also called pillar
articles, killer articles, and so on).

When you land a successful linkbait you end up with thousands of
new visitors, new RSS subscribers, and hundreds of backlinks.

The problem I see around is that most people focus on creating
the linkbait piece only, and forget to promote it. That is, they
spend a lot of time researching and writing the piece, but then
they just publish it and hope people will start sharing it
spontaneously. While this can happen, it's certainly not the
best approach.

If you want to maximize your chances of success you need to have
a proactive approach.

How do you do that, practically speaking? I just published an
article on my blog with 3 methods you can use to promote your
linkbait pieces and to get some relevant backlinks to then. I
am sure at least one of these strategies will be completely
new to you, so check it out:

http://www.dailyblogtips.com/3-innovative-ways-to-promote-your-killer-articles/

I also included real examples from my own websites, and explained
how to perform the technical parts, so I think you'll like it.

George, SEO Boils Down to Two Simple Factors

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about SEO. While this field is certainly
growing in complexity, I still see SEO as a fairly simple game.

Why?

Because I think it's possible to break it down into two simple
factors: content and backlinks.

By content I mean you need to have unique and valuable content,
so that when visitors find your site on Google for the keywords
you are targeting, they will be 100% satisfied (that is what
Google cares about, after all).

By backlinks I mean you need to have links from other sites
pointing to yours, because Google considers each link as a vote
of trust. The more backlinks you have from relevant and
authoritative sites, the more Google will trust your site and
increase your search rankings.

Now here comes the problem. Most people are good at creating
unique and useful content, but they have a hard time building
backlinks.

If this is your case, I wanted to recommend a company called
BacklinkBuild.com. They have been a sponsor of my site for a
while, and their services are top notch. Whether you need
simple directory submissions for a new site, or
if you want hundreds of links from blog posts to increase
your rankings for a particular keyword, they can help you,
and prices are pretty affordable.

As usual I asked their CEO if I could have a promo code
for my subscribers, and he created a $100 voucher. That's $100
worth of free backlinks for you. You just need to apply it
on the checkout screen (the last step):

Voucher: L6p56PaNQaT1gLkjFl0kxOdPFFjtQ3AXDxdRGa/Bhz0=

Link: http://www.backlinkbuild.com/linkbuildingpackages

The voucher is valid for the first 100 people using it, so
if you are needing some backlinks check it out today.

Here's an example of what you could get. There's an EDU
package that will give you 7 .edu links. It costs $119, but
with the voucher code you'll pay just $19.

They also have an article marketing service that will get you
at least 400 links from different article directories. They
even write the articles for you, so you don't have to do any
work. This package costs $195, and with the voucher code you'll
pay $95. That is around $0.2 per backlink. Not bad right?

I am sure you'll see an increase on your rankings if you get
any of their packages, so check it out.

George, One of My Sites Broke The One Million Page Views Mark

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Some time ago one of my sites broke the one million monthly
page views mark. Needless to say I was quite happy, as this
was a website I built from scratch.

But I am not mentioning this to brag. In fact I just wanted to
point you to an article I wrote with 8 lessons I learned while
building this site. It's posted on my blog, and here's the

George, Not a Member of Online Profits Yet?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I was checking some stats here, and I was pleasantly
surprised to see that my Online Profits course is getting
close to 1,000 sign-ups since I relaunched it.

As you probably know it was a paid course ($392) covering all
aspects of Internet marketing (e.g., setting up websites, domain
names, WordPress, content creation, website promotion,
blogging, social media, affiliate marketing, SEO, you name
it!).

Then around one year ago I decided to make it virtually free
to join. People would only need to sign-up for a hosting
account with my partner (HostGator) in order to get a free
lifetime account to my course. The model worked quite well,
as everyone could benefit from it. And I guess the 1,000
sign-ups confirm it!

Once in a while I also get email from the members thanking
me for making the course free, saying I could be charging
for the information, that the course helped them a lot and
so on. Needless to say that I am always pleased to read
those emails.

What about you, aren't you a member yet? Are you missing
the 150,000 words worth of quality content you'll find
inside the members area? What about the library with hundreds
of ebooks, the WordPress themes, the list of tools?

I really encourage you to join. It will cost you around $10
(i.e., the price of the smallest plan on HostGator), and you
will see that the lessons match the quality of most paid
programs out there.

Here's the link to get all the details and join:

If you have any questions or doubts let me know and I'll
clarify them for you (just reply to this email).

George, Here's What I Think About SEO Companies

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Pretty much every week I get an email from a reader asking what I
think about SEO consultants and companies who claim to be able to
increase the search rankings and traffic to your website.

In my opinion most of those people and companies are not worth the
money. Usually they charge an upfront fee, perform some basic work,
and then disappear. On some cases your rankings will increase
slightly, but very often you won't notice any change....

Are there exceptions? Yep.

In fact, another common email I get is people asking a
recommendation for a good SEO company, and always reply telling
them to checkout www.RankPay.com

Why is this company an exception? Because they have built their
business on a pay-for-performance model, based exclusively on
delivering results. That is, once you become a client, you don't
need to spend a dime. They will start working on your site (both
on-site and off-site optimization), and only when you start getting
good rankings you'll start paying. If you don't rank, you don't pay.

That's why I like their services, and that is why I have had
RankPay as a sponsor of my site for almost two years now.

Their pricing is also very fair, and it's presented upfront and
locked-in for the duration of the program. It's a monthly fee
based upon your average rank. They have a free tool you can use to
help determine which keywords you could rank for, and how much it
would cost. Simply visit RankPay.com, input your website
URL, and the keyword you would like your homepage to rank for.

I asked the CEO of the company if I could offer a promo code to my
subscribers, so that you can test drive the service, and he created
one that will give you $50 in credit. Just use the promo code
"Promo50" while signing up to claim your credit.

Check it out, and if you become a client, please let me know how
your rankings increase. Here's the link again:

George, Here's a Site Worth Paying For

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

I haven't spent money on Internet marketing ebooks or membership
sites for a long time (if I remember well the last one was Aaron
Wall's SEO Book!), but this month I forked out $97 to get access to
a site. I am also planning to renew my subscription, so I figured
it might be useful for you as well.

The story about how I came to know this site is quite interesting,
and I just wrote a complete review about it. Here's the link to
the post on my blog:

http://www.dailyblogtips.com/global-success-club-review/

Inside my review you'll also find a link to a video you
can watch for free. It's a terrific motivational seminar
by a guy called Les Brown. Even if you are not interested
in the site I am talking about do make yourself a favor and
watch that video.

George, Here's What I Discovered About Search Rankings

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about an SEO principle I learned after
trying to optimize my websites over the years.

Once you start learning about SEO and getting your first pages
and sites ranked well on Google you discover that testing is
really important, and as a result you start tweaking things
around to see what will improve your rankings, and what might
lower them.

Over the years, though, I started to notice a pattern on most
of my sites. The pattern was that sites that I would tweak a
lot would start losing rankings, and sometimes they would
never recover this rankings.

By "tweak a lot" I mean that I would change the title tag,
change the internal link structure, change the navigation
and sidebar sections and so on.

This makes sense if you see things from Google's perspective.
It's tough to figure what a site is about if its structure
keeps changing over time, and it might also be a sign of a
webmaster trying to manipulate search rankings.

Sure, you should always be publishing new content on your site.
But when it comes to the site structure, it looks like Google
prefer website that tend to preserve the same structure over
time.

I haven't read about this on other sources, but it's something
I witnessed very clearly on my own sites (and I built dozens
of them over the years).

That is why these days I only make structural changes on my sites
if absolutely necessary, and I recommend you to so the same. For
example, don't keep changing the title tag. Perform some keyword
research and choose your title tag carefully, and after that
stick with it no matter what!

The stability that your site will have will certainly send a
positive signal to Google, improving your search rankings
over the long term.

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, Check the 10 Business Models That Rocked 2010

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to point you to a very interesting presentation
I came across a while ago (somehow I forgot to share it with
you until today).

It basically illustrates 10 innovative and efficient business
models that became very successful in 2010. Names like
Groupon, Quirky, AirBNB and KickStarter are included.

The cool thing is that the presentation goes quite in-depth
to analyze how each model works, and how it became successful.

If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it, as I am
sure you'll get at least a couple of good ideas from it.

George, Wanna Learn How I Make As Much As $400 Per Day with AdSense?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Last week I told you that over the past months I started relying
more and more on Google AdSense as a source of income, right?
What I didn't tell you is how much exactly I am making. Well,
there are days I make over $450, and the daily average is around
$350.

It's a great feeling, I must tell you, and my goal for 2011 is
to make at least six figures with Adsense.

What about you, are you earnings as much as you would like?

Many people who I talk to are not. For some reason they are not
able to increase the traffic to their websites, to getting a
good click-through rate on their ads and so on.

That's why I decided to create my AdSense Profits Course, which
is opening doors today. Here's the link where you can get all
the details and join:

http://www.dailyblogtips.com/course/

It's basically a 6-week program that will teach you all the methods
and strategies I use to make money with AdSense. The six modules
are:

1. AdSense Basics: Understanding how the program works and what
things are supposed to do and not to do.

2. AdSense Optimization: How to choose the right units, how to
position them efficiently, how to format the ads for maximum CTR
and so on.

3. Keyword Research: How to estimate traffic from Google, how to
choose profitable keywords, how to develop a better content
strategy for your websites and so on.

4. Search Engine Optimization: Everything you need to know about
search engines and optimizing your sites for better rankings.

5. Website Promotion: How to promote your websites and increase your
traffic consistently over time.

6. Buying Websites for AdSense: Where to find the best deals, how to
conduct the negotiation, how to tweak the sites once you bought
them and so on.

Apart from the lessons you'll also get access to bonuses, a section
with useful tools and a private forum where you can ask questions
directly to me and network with other members.

Since the program has a fixed schedule (i.e., each week a new
module becomes available) the enrollment will have a limited more.
Doors will be closing next Tuesday, June 21 at midnight (GMT).

If you want to start making some real money with AdSense in 2011
I recommend you to check the course today. Here's the link again:

http://www.dailyblogtips.com/course/

Any questions just reply to this email and I'll get back to you
quickly.

See you inside!

George, Would You Like To Earn More with Google AdSense?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Over the past months I started relying more and more on Google
AdSense as a source of income. That is mainly because I saw a lot
of untapped potential there. In other words, I figured I probably
could be making a lot more money than I was with AdSense.

I changed my promotion strategy on some websites, created a couple
of new ones, tweaked my ad units around, and within some months I
managed to double my earnings. I don't like to reveal exact numbers
(cause it always sound like you are bragging), but my goal is make
six figures with AdSense alone this year.

When people hear about making money with AdSense, though, they tend
to think that it's something incredibly hard to achieve, or that
you need a extremely popular website to make anything more than
pocket change. The reality is quite different. Reaching an income
level of $1,000 monthly AdSense, for instance, is not that hard if
you know how to build and promote your websites, and how to
optimize the ad units and placements.

That is why I decided to create an AdSense course. My goal is to
share the stuff I learned along these years, and to help other
people reach a good income level with Google AdSense, which I think
is one of the best monetization strategies available.

The course launches next Tuesday, and I'll be giving you all the
details soon, so stay tuned.

One of the bonuses I'll include are interviews with people who are
also making good money with AdSense. Below you'll find the answers
to the introductory question, just to give you an idea of what is
possible.

Clinton Antcliff:
"I probably have Adsense on about 20-30 sites. AdSense was my sole
income for a while and I had multiple "Fedex" accounts (accounts
earning more than $10K a month). To date I've earned a few million
from Adsense, but at present I earn "just" a six figure sum from
Adsense per year (because I diversified my income sources)."

Jehzeel Laurente:
"Today, I have around 20 active websites with Google Adsense and I
make a minimum of $7,500 monthly. Sometimes it reaches $10,000 USD
monthly. And twice or thrice a year it exceeds $25,000 USD in just
1 month."

Flávio Fonseca Mariano:
"AdSense is my main source of the income. I have 15 blogs in
different levels. I also have some co-owned blogs, so I probably
run AdSense on around 20 different sites. Last month I earned
$7,000 in total."

Stay tuned for more details!

George, Use Online Marketplaces as Research Tools

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about online marketplaces, and why you
can almost always use them as research tools.

-----

As you probably know, a great strategy to achieve your goals
is to look at people who already accomplished similar things,
and then analyze how they did, learning as many lessons as
possible.

If you want to build a popular and profitable website, therefore,
you should look at websites that already are popular and
profitable, and then learn how they achieved it.

But where do you find such websites?

That is where online marketplaces come into play. One I already
talked about and that I always check is Flippa.com. There you'll
find hundreds of websites being auctioned, and while most are
crap, some are really big and profitable websites, and the
owners usually share all the strategies they used to build,
promote and monetize the sites. In other words, it's a gold
mine of information if you are willing to analyze and
understand what is going on behind the scenes.

Another type of marketplace I like to use for research
purposes are the advertising ones. For instance, check
BuySellAds.com. There you'll find hundreds of websites selling
ad space. The most popular ones get as much as 20 million
monthly pageviews. You then can analyze:

- What niche they are focusing on.
- What kind of design they use.
- What kind of content or service they offer to visitors.
- What methods they use to generate traffic.
- What monetization methods they are using.

The takeaway message is: wherever there's a marketplace
with popular websites listed there's an opportunity for you
to learn.

George, Ever Considered Freelance Writing Online?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about freelance writing online, and why I
think it's a great way to make money online, especially if you
are new on the Internet.

-------

When you are getting started with your own blog or website, it
can be challenging to monetize it. Maybe you don't have a lot
of traffic, so despite how hard you try the money from selling
ads won't be significant. Maybe you do have some traffic
already, but getting decent advertising deals takes time, and
you get your hosting bills to pay!

Is there a solution for this problem? Yes, and for many people
the solution is called freelance writing.

The only requirement to make money with freelance writing is
to like to write. You don't even need to be a great writer. As
long as you know the basic grammar rules and don't make gross
spelling mistakes you are already qualified for most jobs.

And there cool thing is that there are thousands of writing
jobs online. The Internet is booming, as yo probably know,
and virtually every single website needs some kind of content
to survive. Guess what. If you can write that content, you
can make money with it.

Freelance writing online has many benefits as well. First of
all you can work from anywhere, anytime. Second, you'll be
able to write about the topics you are interested in. Third,
the process is much simpler than trying to monetize a website:
you deliver your writing work and the publisher sends your
payment (often on the same day).

Even if your plan is to eventually make money with your own
website you can use freelance writing to learn what kind of
content works better online, and you can also re-invest the
money you'll earn on your website (e.g., buying a logo,
upgrading your hosting plan and so on).

In fact not many people know it, but in the early days of
my websites I also used to do freelance writing work. At
one point I was making as much as $1,000 for a single
article, but I'll share how I achieved this on another
email.

If you are eager to get started, though, you can use the
job board on Problogger to find some writing jobs. Here
is the link: http://jobs.problogger.com

It's one of the best resources online, and you can browse
the listings for free.

Next week I'll talk more about freelance writing, so stay
tuned.

Best wishes,
Daniel Scocco

George, Most People Underrate This SEO Factor

Hi George

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about one factor that is very important
for SEO, yet most people underrate it. This factor is
consistency.

------

If ask you people what they think is necessary to get a
website ranking high for a particular keyword, most of them
will mention things like an optimized title tag, unique
content, backlinks and so on.

While those factors are indeed important for SEO, they are
will produce very small results if you don't combine them
with consistency.

That is, you could launch a new website today with a lot
of unique content and many backlinks, but unless
you keep adding new content and getting new links
consistently over time your website would not rank high
for any competitive keyword.

The opposite is also true. Even if you launch a website
with little unique content and no backlinks, you can still
get it ranking high for competitive keywords if you
consistently keep adding new content and getting new
backlinks.

Let me illustrate this point with some numbers. Suppose
we launch two websites targeting the same keyword, website
A and website B. On website A we publish 50 articles right
away and manage to attract 500 backlinks on the first day
thanks to a social media campaign. On website B, on the
other hand, we work gradually publishing one article every
other day and getting 10 new backlinks per week. After
6 months I would be willing to bet that website B is
ranking higher than website A, and that is because it has
consistency.

In fact Google confirmed in the past that the pace at which
a website publishes new content and gain new backlinks is
indeed used inside its algorithm.

Whenever you plan an SEO campaign for one of your sites
in the future remember that slow and steady can win the
race, even on the Internet!

George, Here's A Complete Guide To Buy Websites

Hi George

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Last week I talked about buying websites, and why it can be very
profitable. Some people emailed me back asking for more tips and
tricks to buy websites, though, so I decided to write a complete
guide for it.

Among other things you'll find what steps you need to take before
buying any website to make sure you'll not make a bad investment,
where you can find websites to buy and how much you should offer
the owners.

Here is the link to the article on my blog:

George, Here's All You Need to Know About Freelance Writing

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Remember when I talked about freelance writing a couple of weeks
ago? I mentioned I had more things to share on the topic, and
here they come!

------

You probably don't know it, but back in 2005, when I was building
my first blogs and websites, I also started freelance writing to
supplement my online income. My websites weren't earning much, so I
figured writing for people with larger sites could work, and it did.

After six months or so I was already making over $2,000 monthly
from my freelance writing gigs, and I was able to invest that money
back into my own blogs and websites (e.g., purchasing custom
designs, logos, web hosting and so on).

Apart from the money, though, I liked the freelance projects
because they allowed me to write on a wide range of topics, and
they also helped me to grow a network of online contacts, which
came very handy down the road when I was promoting my own sites and
products.

In other words, I think freelance writing is a great way to make
money online, and that is why I invited Ali Hale (a friend of mine
and professional freelance writer) to create a Freelance Writing
Course with me. She created all the learning material, and I
managed the technical side.

The course is a six-week program designed to teach you everything
you need to know about freelance writing online. The six modules
are:

Week 1: Maximizing Your Writing Productivity to Multiply Your
Profits
Week 2: Website Setup, Promotion and Guest Blogging
Week 3: Writing Content For The Web, A Totally Different Beast
Week 4: Finding Clients and Developing High Paying Jobs
Week 5: Running A Freelance Writing Business Efficiently
Week 6: Using Social Media To Promote Yourself and Land More
Writing Jobs

Each week you have a list of assigned tasks to complete, and you
can also network with other members and ask questions on a private
forum.

We first launched the course back in January of this year, and the
feedback was great. That is why we decided to open the doors again.
Since we want the students to follow the course together, though,
enrollment will be open for 72 hours only (i.e., from today until
Friday).

If you think the course could be the right one for you I recommend
you check it out today. Here is the link to the page where you
can get all the details and sign-up:

http://www.dailywritingtips.com/freelance-writing-course/

There are a bunch of bonuses included, and we offer a 60-day money
back guarantee, so check it out.

Talk to you soon,

George, Buying Websites Can Be Profitable, Too

Hi George

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about buying websites, and why it's a really
good time to do it.

-----

If you browse around the web you'll mostly find people talking
about selling websites, and about how profitable it can be. While
that is true, the opposite is also true. That is, buying websites
can be quite profitable too, and here is why: valuations of
websites are still small when comparred to offline investments.

Let's illustrate this point with some examples. If you buy real
estate (e.g., a house or an apartment) as investment, you'll
probably be able to rent it for 1% of the price you paid for it
(the percentage will be higher in some regions and smaller in
others, but 1% is a good ballpark number). This means that a
$200,000 apartment would produce a return of $2,000 monthly, and it
also means you would need 8.3 years to recover your investment.

If you buy a small business, similarly, you should expect to have a
return of 20% yearly or so. This means that a $200,000 business
will produce around $40,000 in annual profits, or $3,300 monthly.
In this case the pay back period is 5 years.

What about buying a website? Most website owners are willing to let
their babies go for 1 or 2 times their annual revenues. For
instance, you could probably buy a website that makes $2,000
monthly anywhere from $24,000 up to $48,000. For the sake of
simplicity let's use the middle point and assume you could buy it
for $36,000. This means that your annual return would be 66%
(compared to 12% on real estate and 20% with a small business).
Additionally your pay back period would be 1 year and a half,
compared to 8.3 years with real estate and 5 years with a small
business.

Sounds like a good investment to you? You bet it is.

Now don't get the wrong idea. While buying websites can be quite
profitable, you'll get burned if you don't have experience in this
market and if you are not willing to do your home work (i.e., spend
enough time shopping around, veryfind all the stats before buying
and so on).

The strategy I recommend is to start small, and then build your way
up. For example, you could start buying a small site that makes
$100 monthly (paying around $2,000 for it), and then once you learn
the ropes you consider larger deals.

Good luck,
Daniel Scocco

George, Do You Think Selling Is Easy? Think Again

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about selling stuff (either products or
services). More specifically, about how most people underestimate
how hard it is to sell stuff.

-------

A couple of months ago a person approached me to see if I was
interested in becoming an affiliate for his "Make Money Blogging"
eBook. In his email he explained that he had great plans for the
eBook. The price would be $29, and he was expecting to sell 10,000
copies in the first six months.

The numbers got me curious, so I went to visit his blog. According
to his "Advertise" page he received 50,000 monthly visitors, and
had 2,000 RSS subscribers.

Hhmmm, I thought.

I didn't want to rain on his parade, so I replied to his email
politely saying I was busy with some projects and wouldn't have
time to join as an affiliate, wishing good luck for the launch
anyway.

What I had in mind was something else though, which is: There was
no way on earth he would be able to sell 10,000 copies of that
eBook in 6 YEARS, let alone 6 months!

How come? First of all because the product was not a novelty, and
it aimed at a saturated market. Second, the product creator didn't
have a strong name/reputation, nor a big audience already in place.

In fact if I was to make a guess I would say he sold 100 copies at
most.

Probably this was the first time the guy was trying to sell a
product, and that is why he grossly overestimated the numbers.

I have been there myself. When I launched my first eBook I already
had a blog with 20,000 subscribers. The topic of the eBook was
appealing, and I had put a lot of work on it, so I figured that at
least 10% of my readers would buy it (i.e., 2000 people). Boy I was
wrong!

After 30 days or so I had sold only 200 copies. I was really
frustrated, but the whole experience taught me a good lesson:
selling is never easy, no matter what.

Practically speaking this means that you should aim to have a great
product, with great marketing, and possibly with a great audience
in place before you start selling. And even if you manage to get
all these 3 factors, remember that it will still be hard to
convince people to buy.

Again, selling is never easy. If it was, everybody would be rich!

George, Here Are Some Goals You Should Always Have

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

2011 just started, and as usual people are setting new goals and
making resolutions. But are you setting the right goals? Below
I'll talk about 3 I consider particularly important.

------

GOAL 1: Learn new things

If you want to stay competitive, regardless of your field and
profession, you should always be learning new things. And I am not
talking about opening a magazine and learning about what is going
on in Egypt or how many calories a hamburger has. I am talking
about learning new technical things related to your field.

If you work full time on the Internet, for example, you could set
the goal to learn one or more of the following things in 2011:

-HTML
-CSS
-JavaScript
-SEO
-PHP
-MySQL
-Apache

GOAL 2: Move closer to your ideal lifestyle

One of the things that certainly adds to our happiness is living
a lifestyle that we like. This includes things like living in a city
you like, sleeping/working during the times you like, having the
flexibility to make the activities you like and having the time to
spend time with the people you like.

In fact many people consider this more important than money. So
instead of aiming to make as much money as possible in 2011, aim
to get closer to your ideal lifestyle.

GOAL 3: Work on projects you love and are proud of

We all need to work on stuff we don't particularly love to make
the ends meet. That is fine. Over time, however, you should be
gradually doing fewer of those "pay the bills" projects and more
projects in areas you really love, doing things you'll be proud of.

Getting this started is really easy. You could simply dedicate one
hour of your nights to working on such a project, and as it grows
you start putting more work on it.

If you pursue these 3 goals I am sure you'll end 2011 in great shape!

Best wishes for this new year,
Daniel Scocco

George, Only Buy Medium To High Quality Domains

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about buying domain names, and why most people
waste a lot of money in the process.

------

As we all know, the Internet is booming with opportunities, and
the first step to tap into those opportunities is to buy a domain
name for a website.

Available domains are pretty cheap (around $10 per year), so most
people start buying one after another.

That is what happened with me too. Right after I started working
full time on the Internet I got fascinated with the idea of
launching websites on all sorts of niches, and as a consequence
I bought hundreds of available domain names.

Most of these domains were average to poor quality, as one should
expect since they were available.

The result? I wasted a lot of money.

Out of 100 available domains that I bought I only keep 3 or so as
of today, the rest I let expire over time because they had no
potential.

When I spent money on medium to high quality domains (think $200
per domain and upward), however, I always got a positive return
on my investment.

The message I want to pass is this one: buying average domains for
$10 is usually a waste of money (unless you have an immediate use
for it, like a test website). A much sounder strategy is to buy
fewer (even just a couple) high quality domains.

Here is an example to illustrate my point. Suppose there are two
guys with $100 each, wanting to invest in domain names. The first
one buys 10 available domains for $10 each, while the second one
buys only 1 domain for $100. After a couple of years I am pretty
sure the 10 domains of the first guy won't be worth much, if
anything, while the $100 domain the second guy bought will be worth
at least the same amount of money, if not a lot more (depending on
how he worked on the domain).

The next time you get an urge to buy that free domain for $10 (we
all get it once in a while!) think twice, cause those will be $10
you'll never see again!

George, You Probably Never Heard About This Outsourcing Resource

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about an outsourcing resource that very few
people know about (and the ones who do usually keep it secret!).

------

Suppose I told you I had one guy willing to work full time for you,
so 40 hours per week, and that he had a good knowledge about SEO,
Internet marketing and web design. What kind of salary do you think
you would need to pay him?

$1,000? $1,500?

What if told you the salary he was asking for was $300?

Sounds crazy, but it's true. I am talking about hiring people from
the Philippines. There are plenty of recent graduates there who
want to work from home over the Internet, and $300 (converted to
the local currency) is considered a decent monthly salary.

Another advantage is that most Filipinos speak English almost
fluently, and they are quite savvy when it comes to the Internet
and new technologies.

At this point you might be thinking: "OK, sounds intriguing, but
where can I find those workers?"

That is exactly the resource I was talking about. It's a website
where you can find hundreds of Filipinos looking for online work.
You'll even find the skills they have, the monthly salary they are
asking and how many hours per week they are willing to work.

The URL is: http://www.onlinejobs.ph

You can browse the marketplace without paying anything, but if you
want to see the contact details (e.g., email address) of the workers
you'll need to pay $40 for one month of access.

Before you go ahead on a hiring spree, though, here is a remark:
you'll need to spend some time researching and testing the candidates.

I have had both good and bad experiences hiring people from that
site in the past. Sometimes the person worked as promised and
delivered good results, but there were other times when I swear
the other person was working 5 instead of 40 hours per week, and
I couldn't do anything about it except terminate the deal after
the first month was up.

It remains a very good resource for times when you need to outsource
stuff anyway, so check it out.

George, Conversion Rate Optimization Is Very Important

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about a very important concept that most people
neglect: Conversion Rate Optimization.

------

If you want to get better results with your website (be it to
increase your revenues, to get more subscribers or what not) you
have basically two courses of action: the first one is to work to
increase your traffic, and the second one is to optimize your site
to increase your conversion rate.

Most people focus on the first method, but the second one can be
equally, if not more effective. But let's take one step back and
define what conversion rate is.

Conversion rate is the percentage of your visitors who are
performing whatever action you want them to. In other words, it is
the number of visitors who performed the desired action, divided by
the total number of visitors you received. Here is a basic formula
to calculate it:

Conversion Rate = Number of Visitors Who Performed Desired Action /
Total Number of Visitors

Let's suppose you want to measure the conversion rate of your
newsletter landing page, where the desired action is the
subscription to your email newsletter. First of all you need to
open your web analytics program (e.g., Google Analytics) to find
how many people visited that page over a given period of time.
Let's say you want to measure the conversion rate of that page
yesterday, and that the number of visitors to that page yesterday
was 868. Now you need to log into your email marketing software
(e.g., Aweber.com) and see how many subscribers you got on that
page yesterday. Let's say the number was 35. In order to find the
conversion rate now you would need to divide 35 by 868, which is
equal to 0.04, or 4% (to transform 0.04 in percentage simply
multiply it by 100).

Keep in mind that one day is too short an interval of time to get
an accurate measure of the conversion rate, though. Ideally you
should track it for at least one week, to make sure daily
fluctuations don't affect the numbers you get.

Now here is why conversion rate optimization can be quite powerful.
Suppose your current conversion rate on your newsletter landing page
is 4%, and that the page receives 5,000 visitors per month. This
means that every month you are getting 200 new subscribers (5,000
times 0.04). If by tweaking your landing page you managed to
increase your conversion rate to 10%, though, at the end of the
month you would have 500 new subscribers instead of 200, and that
would be with the same amount of traffic you already have.

At this point you might be thinking "Cool, but how do I improve
my conversion rate?". Some basic things you can try are:

- Test with different headlines and track which one performs better
- Try removing elements from your pages that might distract the user
- Consider using images to help the user take the desired action
- Test different calls to action and track which one performs better

If you want more tips and strategies you can use to improve your
conversion rate come check my training program, as we have one
training module completely dedicated to this topic. Here is the

George, Do You Want To Make Money With AdSense?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

I am writing this as I sit in the JFK international airport,
returning from the Blog World Expo 2010, where I gave a presentation
about optimizing Google AdSense.

I figured you might be using Google AdSense too (if you are not, you
should give it a try), so I wanted to share the single best tip from
my presentation with you.

---------

Many people come to me asking how they can make money with Google
AdSense. I always tell them the first thing they need is some
organic traffic (i.e., traffic from search engines). There is no
magic number, but I would aim to have at least 300 daily visitors
from search engines before trying to use AdSense.

The problem is that even people who already have that kind of
traffic usually have a hard time making money with AdSense. They
plug the units into their websites, and at the end of the month
they make a couple of bucks....

How come? That is because they don`t know how to optimize AdSense.
This includes picking the right units, formating them effective,
placing them at the right spots and so on.

It`s a somewhat complex process, but there is one tip I have that
is easy to apply and will produce outstanding results. The tip is
to use the "Champion Combo".

The "Champion Combo" is simply a nickname I have given for a
combination of one specific AdSense unit placed at one specific
location. That is, the 336x280 large rectangle unit placed below
your post titles (with some white space between them, to make sure
users won't get confused).

I would guess that on 95% of the cases this
unit/placement combination will produce the highest possible
earnings. If you have never tried it, you should, as I am sure your
overall earnings will double, triple, or even quadruple!

The only drawback of this strategy is that it`s quite intrusive. If
you want to find a compromise, though, you can display the 336x280
unit only on posts older than 7 days, for example. This will make
sure that your loyal visitors, who come to read your latest post
every day, will not see the ad, while visitors coming from search
engines to your older posts will.

How do I manage to show my ads only on posts older than 7 days? By
using a WordPress plugin called "why do work". Simply search on
Google for "why do work plugin" and you`ll find it.

And there you go, this is my single best tip for people who want
to make money with Google AdSense.

If you want to learn how to optimize your AdSense units further,
in order to maximize your earnings, come check my training program,
as we have one module completely dedicated to this topic. Here is

George, Do You Want More Traffic from Facebook?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

As you probably know I run a private mailing list, called the
Retweet Club, where members can exchange retweets to get more
traffic from Twitter. There is a social media platform much larger
than Twitter, though, and I figured it could be worth to launch a
new club specifically for that one. It will be called the Facebook
Club.

---------

#How It Works#

The objective of the club is simple: to help its members get more
exposure and traffic from Facebook. Basically each member can
submit one weekly request, and other members will either "Share" or
"Like" the requested piece with their Facebook accounts.

Suppose we end up with 50 members, each with around 500 friends on
Facebook. If all of them shared your content on their Facebook
accounts you would be exposed to 25,000 people. That is the idea.

The club works as a mailing list, where members will both post and
receive requests via email. The club is also private, so no one can
access the messages, and you need an invite from me to get inside.

#The Rules#

Here are the basic rules you need to follow:

1. Each member can send only one request per week. This is to make
sure the volume of emails will be moderate and that only quality
content will be submitted.

2. Members can submit requests for quality content only. No spam or
commercial stuff (i.e. no pages selling something or promoting
affiliate deals). A good rule of thumb is: Would other people want
to share it naturally on Facebook? If the answer is no, don't send
it to the club.

3. The request should contain the title of article/page, and its
real URL (i.e., no shortened links). Obviously the requested
article/page also needs to have a Facebook "Share" or "Like" widget
on it.

4. Members are supposed to vote on at least 80% of the requests.
The 20% margin is to allow for content that is completely unrelated
to your niche/interests.

5. No off-topic chat. Members can use the mailing list only for
voting requests, to make sure the volume of emails will be moderate.

#How To Join#

The club is completely free, and you can also leave it anytime. The
only requirement for joining is that you must have at least 300
friends on your Facebook account. If you do, simply reply to this
email including your Facebook user. After that you'll receive an
invitation to join the club.

Make sure your email address has an active Google account on it,
because we use Google Groups to power the mailing list.

George, We Crossed The 500 Members Mark on Online Profits

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Last week I achieved an important milestone with my training program,
and I wanted to share the background story with you.

-------

When I decided to make the Online Profits course free back in June
I was not sure how it would work out. My goal was to make the
course accessible to as many people as possible, while still making
some money from it, and I found an interesting model for that.

The course itself became free, but in order to join people would
need to sign-up for a hosting plan with my partner (HostGator). The
cost of doing that is $8.95 per month, and there is a requirement
of keeping the hosting plan active for at least 3 months. So for
$30 people would be able to get a lifetime member account to my
course, which last sold for around $400.

It should be a win-win-win situation. Members win because they
would get access to the training program almost for free. My
hosting partner wins because it would get new clients (many
probably staying for the long term), and I win because I would
still make some money from the referral commissions.

The plan was solid, but it could backfire. I knew the quality of my
course was top notch and comparable to any other online course, but
making it virtually free could affect people's perception
negatively.

Luckily this didn't happen, and last week we crossed the milestone
of 500 members (and that is counting only the members who joined
after I made the program free in June). This is equivalent to
almost 4 new sign-ups per day, which is way above by initial
expectations.

The feedback has been great too, and I am starting to see people
recommend the program spontaneously around the web (i.e., not
because they are affiliates and want to earn some money, but
because they really believe it can help other people).

If you are one of the 500 members, thanks for joining! If you are
not, well, you are missing some good stuff! You can check the
details and join on the Online Profits homepage. Here is the link:

George, Your Goal Should Be Profits, Not Traffic

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about the importance of focusing on profits
and not on website traffic. This is one of the most important
business principles you should follow in my opinion.

--------

One mistake that many new webmasters and online entrepreneurs make
is to focus on generating website traffic.

This is the logic they follow: build a website, work until it is
getting a huge amount of traffic, figure out how to monetize that
traffic.

While this might actually work if you get lucky, it is definitely
not the best route to follow. There are plenty of cases of websites
and Web 2.0 companies that went bankrupt despite having millions of
monthly unique visitors. How so? Simple: they couldn't monetize the
service efficiently, and sustaining the servers and the staff was
consuming far too much money.

Traffic is certainly vital on the Internet, but it should be seen
as a means to an end, and not the end itself. Just think about it:
would you rather have a website that receives 10 million unique
visitors monthly and that makes $5,000 in profits, or a website
that receives only 20,000 unique visitors monthly but makes $50,000
in profits?

As soon as you start working on the idea for a new website or
company, you need to figure out where the profits are going to come
from. Here are some of the questions that you might wanna ask
yourself: Who is going to gain value from my service or product?
Who is going to pay for it? How is he going to pay? Will my costs
be lower than my revenues?

This principle should also affect the type of website and business
model you end up choosing. For instance, do you know why experienced
online entrepreneurs prefer to sell their own products or to work
with affiliate marketing instead of building advertising-based
websites? Because the first two models need a lot less traffic to
make decent money.

The takeaway message is: you are ultimately aiming for profits, not
traffic.

If you want to learn more about the basic business principles you
should follow, come check my training program. Here is the link:

George, The Pareto Principle Can Save Your Business

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about the famous Pareto principle, and how it
can actually save your business.

-------

The Pareto principle, which is also called the 80-20 rule, states
that for many events and things in life, 80% of the effects come
from 20% of the causes.

For example, an Italian economist once observed that 80% of land
in Italy was owned by 20% of the people. His name was Vilfredo
Pareto, and that is where the principle got its name from.

Another famous example: Microsoft once found that by eliminating 20%
of the largest bugs in its operating system 80% of the crashes
would stop.

Another one: most businesses find that 80% of their revenues come
from just 20% of the customers.

So how can the Pareto principle save your business? Well, it is
clear: by identifying and focusing your work on the 20% of the tasks
that will generate 80% of the results you'll become much more
efficient and profitable.

Here is one practical example that you probably can relate to.
Suppose you have a blog and that you are trying to make it popular
(e.g., to increase its traffic). There are many things you could
do to achieve that, including:

-write quality content
-promote that content
-use social media (e.g., Twitter and Facebook)
-use social bookmarking sites (e.g., Digg and Reddit)
-tweak your design
-track your stats
-chat with readers
-create Youtube videos
-article marketing
-submit your blog to directories
-search engine optimization

That is a lot of things right? And many bloggers actually do all of
them. But what does the Pareto principle tell us about this? It's
simple: 20% of these activities are going to produce 80% of the
traffic gain.

In fact I place these activities right on top for that reason. They
are: writing quality content and promoting that content. If you do
these two things you'll get new readers, new subscribers, backlinks
from other sites, your search rankings will increase, and
ultimately your traffic will increase.

Sure, the other activities can help, but 80% of the results will
come from writing quality content and promoting it.

Guess where you should spend most of your time?

And remember that the Pareto principle works on almost any
situation, so apply it for your own business or website, and focus on
the 20% of things that will bring you 80% of the results.

George, Do You Know What The PPC Quality Score Is?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about PPC advertising. More specifically, I
want to talk about the "Quality Score" concept, which is very
important to anyone interested in using PPC.

-------

As you probably know PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click, and it is an
advertising model where you'll pay a specific amount for each click
that the ad network will send to your site.

The largest PPC network around is Google AdWords, and it's a very
efficient promotional channel because it allows you to display your
ads directly in Google's search results for people who are searching
for specific keywords. In other words, you can get very targeted
traffic with PPC ads.

The problem is that you need to know how to optimize your PPC
campaigns, else you'll end up wasting a lot of money and getting
no results.

A key concept you need to understand if you want to have success
with PPC campaigns is the "Quality Score" one, because it will
affect both how much you will end up paying per click and the
position of your ads. In other words, the higher your Quality
Score, the higher the traffic that you will be able to buy for the
same amount of money.

Basically each keyword inside your ad groups will have its own
Quality Score. Once a search query is performed in Google, the
AdWords system will gather all the advertisers who are bidding on
that keyword, and it will use both the bid amount and the Quality
Score of each keyword in the ad groups of those advertisers to
determine what ads will be displayed, and in what order.

If you are going to put ads in Google's Search Network (i.e., in
Google's search results), these are factors that will affect the
Quality Score of your keywords:

-the average CTR (click-through rate) of your ad
-the average CTR of all the ads in your Adwords account
-the quality of the landing page for the ad
-the relevance of the keyword to the content of the ad
-other relevance factors

Practically speaking, this means that you should:

1. Create many versions of your ads, with different headlines and
descriptions, and then stick with the ones with the higher CTR.
2. Make sure that the landing page for your ads respect Google's
quality guidelines (i.e., plenty of content, no popups, etc).
3. Make sure that you only target keywords related to your ads.
4. Make sure that you only target keywords related to the content
of your landing page.

If you try to spend less per click by targeting unrelated keywords,
for example, you might save some money in the short term, but over
the long run you'll ruin your Quality Score and the efficiency of
your PPC campaigns will decrease.

If you want to learn more about PPC advertising and how you can
optimize your campaigns for maximum results come check my training
program at http://www.onlineprofits.com (remember you'll just need
to spend $4 to join!).

George, Here Is A Quick Strategy To Increase Your Traffic

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to point you to an article I wrote a while ago, about
a strategy to increase blog traffic. I am sure you'll find it
useful.

-------

First of all, even if you have a "normal" website like an online
store or a niche website, you can still use the strategy I'll
describe. You would just need to add a blog as an internal part
of your site, or publish the articles directly on the site, without
using the blog format. In other words, it's a strategy anyone can
use.

I basically wrote that article for the people who are having a hard
time increasing their traffic beyond the 100 daily page views level.
The strategy is composed of four simple steps, and combined they
will not take more than a couple of hours daily.

If you apply the steps as recommended I am sure you'll be able to
reach 1,000 daily page views or more in no time.

Here is the link to the article:

http://www.dailyblogtips.com/increase-blog-traffic/

There are over 150 comments there already, so people must be liking
it.

George, Check This Interview With One Of My Students

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Many students of the my Online Profits training program have
already crossed the $1,000 per month mark, so I figured it would be
interesting to feature some of them. Below you'll find an
interview I did with Andreas Kam, who joined Online Profits in
January of 2010. It's a bit long, but there are some nice tips in
the end.

-------

Q: When did you started building your first blog or website?

A: My blog, LondonCyclist.co.uk, came to life 3 years ago. When I
moved to London I realised cycling would be the best to move
around, but I knew little about it so I decided to look for good
information online. When I found out it didn't exist, I started a
blog about it. I taught myself everything while I shared the
knowledge with others.

Q: How did it work out initially?

A: Initially I didn't have any business interest in the blog. I
would just post something online when I discover something that
interested me or that I thought other people would find
interesting. That was for the first two years. Once leaving
university I put my full time into the blog but for the first 6
months profits were very slow so I used up a lot of my savings and
my parents started to worry.

Q: Do you remember some of the numbers?

A: Yes. Early in 2010 the blog was getting around 22,000 visits per
month, with around 300 RSS/email subscribers. As for revenues, it
was not making any significant money.

Q: How did you come across Online Profits, and why did you decide
to join?

A: I was following Darren Rowses blog and if I remember correctly I
saw an interview with you there. It arrived at exactly the right
time when I was thinking about going professional with my blog.

Q: What do you think of the training material and resources you
found there?

A: It was fantastic to finally have all these materials together in
one place in an easy to follow format. In the first few lessons I
learned about a huge number of errors I was making. I was pleased
everything was in text and audio format so I could follow it in a
way suitable to me. I personally find I digest text far more
quickly. It was also good to have a forum for support questions. It
really answered a ton of questions immediately that I had for ages
and also helped me discover so much more about blogging. It was
really the kick start I needed.

Q: In what ways did you implement what you learned on your own blog?

A: I quickly realised that Adsense was not a strategy for me moving
forward. There were far better ways to monetize my blog. That is
why I started working on my own product: an eBook with 30 London
Cycling Routes). The eBook has been a huge success and I wouldn't
have thought to create it without the course. I've had interest
from people wanting to publish it and it continues to bring in a
steady income that pays my rent.

I also started an Aweber newsletter. This helped me connect with my
audience and have their permission to keep in contact regularly. As
of today I have over 2,000 subscribers on my list.

Q: What kind of results did you get?

A: My traffic grew a lot (I am receiving over 70,000 visits per
month now) and I practically went from $0 to $1,000 monthly in
revenues. The money I made with the blog paid for two weeks in
Brazil enjoying Rio De Janeiro. Since then things have continued to
grow and so many opportunities have arisen, such as collaborating
on an iPhone application and interviewing the Mayor of London. I'm
sure without this strong start to my blogging career I would be in
a 9-5 job now.

Q: What tips would you give to someone who is getting started
online and wants to make some money eventually?

A: First of all I would recommend the person to create his own
product. If you just use advertising on your blog or website,
you'll never know how much money you could actually be making.

Second, start building an email list as soon as possible. I used
Daniel's advice and created a freebie to entice people to
subscribe, and in the end the list contributed a lot to my eBook's
success.

Third, make sure to be active in your niche and to build a
relationship with fellow bloggers. One way I did that was to create
a list with the Top 50 Cycling Blogs. Over 80% of them linked back
to me, and it enabled me to get in touch with all these bloggers.

If you want to join or learn more about my training program, simply
visit http://www.onlineprofits.com . You'll get access to the same
material Andreas used to make his blog a success.

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, Do You Know The "Build Today Profit Tomorrow" Strategy?

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to talk about a strategy that I call "Build Today
Profit Tomorrow." It can be quite solid in certain niches.

-------

Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably heard about
the launch of the Starcraft 2 game. The first version of this game
was considered by many the best strategy game ever made, so there
was a lot expectation for the sequel.

Long story short Starcraft 2 broke a lot of records, and it
generated a lot of buzz online. Just consider that the term
"starcraft 2" is searched by over 2 million people monthly, and
related keywords like "starcraft 2 demo" or "startcraft 2 review"
have over 50,000 monthly searches.

That is a lot of traffic for people who created websites in this
niche. But you know which websites are the ones that are killing it
right now? The ones that started being built 12 or more months ago.

That is right, some people started building a "Starcraft 2" website
over one year before the actual launch of the game. And it is not
like they purchased the domain and left it there. They were updating
it with new content every day, promoting it, getting backlinks and
so on.

This strategy works because Google will see the very first websites
to talk about a certain topic as the authorities in that niche. If
you start building a website about "Starcraft 2" today you'll have
a very hard time competing with the folks who entered the niche
first.

As you can see the "Build Today Profit Tomorrow" strategy works
very well with products that are going to be released in the future
and that are likely to attract a lot of attention. Examples include
games, new Windows versions, new Apple products and so on.

You can also apply this strategy to seasonal events like the Soccer
World Cup or the Olympic Games. In fact there are people building
sites for the 2018 England World Cup already! That event is 8 years
ahead, but if they manage to secure the top Google spots for related
keywords they'll earn a lot of money with it.

If you have some time available, give this strategy a shot, as it
can be very profitable.

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, I'll Be Glad To Help You If I Can

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I just want to clarify one thing: I view you as a friend. and
not as just another newsletter subscriber. Below you'll find why.

------

If you are reading this email, it means you have been a subscriber
to my newsletter for at least 6 months. How do I know? Because as
of today there are 25 messages on the newsletter, and I send one out
every week. The messages are delivered sequentially, so in order
to receive this one you necessarily went through the past 24.

Since you have been reading my stuff for so long, I felt it would
be cool to clarify a couple of points:

1. I Am Thankful For Your Time

First of all let me say that I am thankful and flattered at the same
time that you take the time to read my content every week. That is
why I always try to put valuable information in the messages, while
keeping the promotional plugs to a minimum.

2. You Can Reply To The Messages and Chat With Me

I am not sure if you know this, but you can reply to each and every
message you get from my newsletter, and the reply will come
straight to my inbox. I always try to answer the emails from my
subscribers, so if you have any doubt, criticism or suggestion,
let me know about it.

3. It Is About the Relationship

When I started this newsletter my goal was to promote my blog. After
a while the number of subscribers started to grow a lot, and I
I figured I could use it to make more money. But I was wrong.

Today I realize that the main purpose of this newsletter is to
build a relationship with people like you, who are interested in
blogging, Internet marketing and doing business online.

Why is that? Because business is about people, and if you want to
grow you need to bring others along with you.

4. I Am Glad To Help If I Can

A relationship must be a two-way street, which means that, just like
you help me when you can, I am glad to help you if I can, too.

For example, if you just launched a new product or website and want
a retweet, let me know about it. If you need a contact of a web
designer or Internet marketing consultant, let me know about it. If
you need advice regarding a business decision, drop me an email
and I'll give you my opinion. So on and so forth.

I just can't promise I'll write about your website or post on my
blog, because I get dozens of such requests every week. But you sure
can send me the link, and the least I'll do is take a look.

That is it. I just wanted to clarify these points to make sure we
are on the same page, and to re-assure you that there is a real
person on the other side of the email messages you receive. A person
just like you!

I'll talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco

George, Check These 100 Ways to Increase Your Traffic

Hi George,

Daniel Scocco here, and this is the Daily Blog Tips newsletter.

Today I want to point you to an article I just published on one
of my websites. The title is "100 Ways To Increase Your Website
Traffic."

------

As you probably know, traffic is one of the most important things
on the web. Without it your website or blog will be a failure, no
matter what.

If you have traffic, on the other hand, you'll be able to achieve
any objective you have, be it to make money, to launch your product,
to land a new job, to network with new people and so on.

That is why I decided to write an article with 100 ways you can use
to increase your traffic. Some of them might give you a huge boost,
while others will help a little bit, but combined I am sure you'll
see good results if you apply the methods I mention.

Here is the link for the article:

If you like, please help me spread the word with a stumble or a
retweet.

Talk to you next week,
Daniel Scocco
